Govt bars group exercises as gyms open tomorrow

The state public health department on Friday issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be followed by customers and owners after the state government issued a notification to open gyms from Sunday. As per the SOPs, while it is mandatory to use a mask at all times inside the gym, the state government has allowed the use of cloth and tightly woven masks as use of N-95 masks can cause difficulty in breathing. Group exercises and facilities like steam, sauna and shower will not be allowed. Use of locker rooms can be allowed, provided there is enough space for people to move around, in compliance with social distancing norms.
